Reviews all phases of communication skills with practice in understanding, speaking, and writing grammatically correct Spanish. Teaches specific components of Spanish grammar: the Spanish verbal system, the subjunctive, ser versus estar, and other problematic aspects of grammar. For students planning to teach Spanish.
Reflection:
During the course of this class, the teacher focused on improving grammar. The subjunctive is a very difficult tense in the Spanish language. As a native speaker, I know to to use it int he everyday life without thinking about ti, but when it came to writing it is a different situation. Dr. Oliva, though us to use the subjunctive correctly when writing assignments. Since many of my class mates plan to become teachers, he also taught us technique that could help us teach these tricky tense to our future students. As for ser and estar, I have no problem with them, but the positive outcome from this class is the fact that the teacher took the time to teach us techniques that can help us as future Spanish teachers.
